Monthly Maintenance
Hot summer days are here! Use the tips below to keep your home cooler without air conditioning and save a bit on your energy bill. Also, remember to keep maintaining your yard, so you'll have an easier time preparing for the fall and winter.
The average house temperature is 75-78 degrees, and you need it cooler, a well-placed fan can circulates cool air faster.
A programable thermostat is a convenient way to keep your house warmer when you're out of it, and cooler when you're home. This can reduce your monthly energy bill.
Keep the area around your A/C clear of debris to prevent mold. Use dehumidifiers to decrease moisture in the air, too.
Mulch flower beds and remove unwanted weeds before their roots take hold.
Check for puddles and regularly empty landscape features and toys that fill with water. Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Check with your local hardware store about products for reducing mosquitoes.
Check your fencing and make any necessary repairs. If you’re not sure who owns the fence, you may need to consult the legal documents for your home or hire the assistance of a fence viewer.
Mow your lawn every 7 to 10 days, and always mow a dry lawn. Set your mower high to let grass root grow deeper.
Money Minute
June 28th is National Insurance Awareness Day. We all face risks in life, and insurance is one way to help reduce financial costs when challenging life events happen. A healthy financial plan includes having insurance in place to protect your assets, health, and well-being and your loved ones in the event of a death.
June is a great time to check your insurance policies and make sure that you have enough coverage and that you can cover your deductible in the event of a loss. Insurance rates for home and auto have risen significantly in recent years. You may want to consider shopping for better rates and coverage.
