Monthly Maintenance

Spring is officially here! As the weather warms, maintain your home with these simple tips:

  • Open your windows and air out the house – fresh air makes everything better!
  • Wipe down surfaces that have gathered dust over the winter, including ceiling fans if you have one.
  • Make sure your sump pump is working.
  • Turn the shut-off valves for exterior faucets to the ON position.
  • Clean your garage floor.
  • Check your basement for water intrusion from snow melt. Water Leak in Basement After Rain [Animation]
  • Clean your gutters and down spouts.
  • Get your air conditioner ready for spring: How To Clean an Air Conditioner
  • Who doesn’t love a good spring clean? Consider decluttering and donating to ReStore. Spring Cleaning Checklist: Donations by Room

⚠️ Beware of scams! Please be aware that there is an online post circulating that is using the Habitat for Humanity logo and claiming free window or roofing services for seniors 50 years or older. Twin Cities Habitat is not aware of any program like this. Do not click on anything that seems too good to be true. If you are in need of critical home repairs, please contact homeowner@tchabitat.org to see what programs may be available to meet your needs.
