Monthly Maintenance - More Spring Prep

  • During the winter your indoor air quality can worsen due to cleaning products, candles, cooking, and any number of other things adding particles to the air. Opening your windows as much as you can will help regulate your indoor air quality by getting fresh air in and stale air out.

  • If you have a Sump Pump you know how important it is to keep water out of your basement as the snow melts and the rain starts. Brush up on how your sump pump works here (Everything To Know About A Sump Pump - Ace Hardware) and make sure it’s in good working order.

  • Before you get started on any gardening or watering you’ll need to make sure you have access to water. Go to your Exterior Water Shutoffs that you turned off before winter and turn them back on, checking for leaks along the way.

  • Your garage probably accumulated a lot of dirt and debris over the winter as snow melted off of your car, your shoes, and your snowblower. To avoid slipping on and breathing in any dust clear out as much of your garage as you can and sweep it out as shown here: How To Clean A Garage Floor - Ace Hardware.

  • Over the winter your air conditioner may have picked up some leaves, dirt, and other unwanted grime that will make your air conditioner work harder to get you the climate control you need. Luckily it is fairly straightforward to clean your air conditioner, as you can see here: How To Clean an Air Conditioner.
