If you've ever wanted to get to know more people on your block, National Night Out is a great place to start! National Night Out (sometimes known locally as Night to Unite) serves as a platform for community engagement, emphasizing the importance of knowing neighbors, building trust with local law enforcement, and fostering a shared sense of responsibility for neighborhood safety.
Events are local and highly adaptable, ranging from small backyard gatherings to large-scale festivals, reflecting the unique character and needs of each community. Hosting a meaningful event can be as simple as inviting neighbors to meet in a driveway to share conversation, snacks, and community.

Programmable Thermostat: A programable thermostat is a convenient way to keep your house warmer when you're out of it, and cooler when you're home. This can reduce your monthly energy bill.
Mulch Flower Beds: Mulch flower beds and remove unwanted weeds before their roots take hold.
Reduce Mosquitos: Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Check for puddles and regularly empty landscape features and toys that fill with water. Also check with your local hardware store about products for reducing mosquitoes.
Fencing: Check your fencing and make any necessary repairs. If you’re not sure who owns the fence, you may need to consult the legal documents for your home or hire the assistance of a fence viewer.
Mow Your Lawn: Be sure tomow your lawn every 7 to 10 days, and always mow a dry lawn. Set your mower high to let grass root grow deeper.

Saturday, June 28 is National Insurance Awareness Day! We all face risks in life, and insurance is one way to help reduce financial costs when challenging life events happen. A healthy financial plan includes having insurance in place to protect your assets, health, and well-being and your loved ones in the event of a death. Read our guest blog from the Minnesota Homeownership Center: A Guide to Homeowners Insurance.
June is a great time to check your insurance policies and make sure that you have enough coverage and that you can cover your deductible in the event of a loss. Insurance rates for home and auto have risen significantly in recent years. You may want to consider shopping for better rates and coverage. Since its founding, Framework has become a leading provider of online homebuyer education, helping over 1.5 million first-time homebuyers and homeowners across the country.
The Framework platform delivers engaging, interactive content that guides homebuyers through every stage of the process. Check out the HOA course Framework developed specifically for Habitat homeowners:
